It is perhaps a little disingenuous of Chris Todd (Opinion, August 6) to argue a new park and ride site on the outskirts of town would "take nearly £1.5 in passenger revenues away from existing bus services".
In my discussions with the local bus company they have never indicated this is a view they share. Any new site would surely be located in an area not currently served by public transport and the park and ride buses would not stop en route to the town centre.
A park and ride site on the outskirts of town would be the best way to get many drivers out of their cars and on to a bus without any detriment to existing public transport provision - surely a worthy objective.
