The shopping centres, together with the major stores and companies, want longer opening hours on Sundays. They argue families enjoy Sunday shopping. This is a valid point.

I am concerned for the shop workers who would have to staff these longer Sunday trading hours.

Most staff taken on for this role are young people who may be at college or university. The people who try to make a little pocket money are being fully exploited by the large companies.

Let the Sunday workers receive their just rewards: Double time, as the original 1994 agreement stated.
