A Brighton group has won a £19,000 grant to create the definitive guide to school visits in Sussex.
Sussex Arts Marketing (SAM) was given the money by the Department for Education and Employment to create the Magic C@rpet website.
It will contain everything teachers need to know about taking school groups out of the classroom in the county.
Seven museums and galleries have signed up to help create the site, including the University of Brighton Gallery, the Towner Museum and Art Gallery in Eastbourne and the Hastings Museum and Art Gallery.
The site will be ready for use by the end of the year.
SAM project co-ordinator Juliette Buss said: "It will support teachers and encourage them to take their classes out of the school.
"There is a huge range of exciting activities taking place where schools are working with artists, exhibitions and collections in museums and galleries.
"Magic C@rpet will make sure those experiences are shared, making life easier for other teachers planning school trips to a museum or gallery."
The site will include information on venues and case studies of previous teacher's trips.
Gez Wilson, administrator at the University of Brighton Gallery, said: "We're looking forward to being involved in this project."
Ms Buss will talk to teachers and museums over the next six months to prepare material for the site, which she hopes to update regularly after its creation.
She is now looking for designers to work on the project.
