A man is on the run in Brighton with his hands handcuffed behind his back.
He was arrested by police near the Clock Tower in North Street but managed to escape during a scuffle with officers.
The fugitive fled to the railway station in Queens Road and tried to hire a taxi but cabbies refused.
He then fled down Trafalgar Street and disappeared in the North Laine area of town.
Police, who were still searching for the man today, appealed to him to give himself up.
They warned he could face more charges - including stealing a pair of Sussex Police handcuffs.
The drama began shortly after 1am when police came across a fight. The officers themselves came under attack and they radioed for emergency back-up.
Three were arrested but before reinforcements arrived a scuffle broke out and he escaped.
Inspector Kevin Claxton said the man will be desperately trying to free himself from the cuffs.
Anyone with sees him can call 0845 6070 999.
