The daughter of horror writer James Herbert celebrated her GCSE results yesterday - and immediately ruled out following in her father's footsteps.
Casey Herbert, who lives with her parents near Henfield, picked up 13 A grade GCSEs, including 11 A*s.
She said she would not want to be a novelist because she sees how hard her father has to work.
Casey, 16, sat her exams at The Towers in Upper Beeding.
She is going on to Brighton College to study chemistry, biology and English literature, with an A/S level in maths.
She said: "I have no idea at the moment what I would like to do. I would put my success down to the support from friends and family. I have always had a lot of encouragement from mum and dad.
"I used to want to be a writer like my dad when I was younger, but I don't think so now as I have seen how hard he works."
