David Cameron came back to haunt Albion at rain-swept Sincil Bank.
The Seagulls' reject, branded 'useless' by assistant Alan Cork, scored the second goal for Lincoln as Micky Adams' men crashed to consecutive 2-0 away defeats.
Cameron's moment of sweet revenge arrived in the 38th minute. The big Scottish striker calmly slotted his first goal for the Imps after Paul Miller's pass put him clean through.
Steve Holmes had headed Lincoln into the lead against the run of play four minutes earlier from a corner, his second goal in three games.
The 738 Albion fans behind the goal in which Cameron scored must have wondered how on earth their side came away with nothing.
Albion, with Scott Ramsay a surprise choice in the starting line-up, dominated the match from start to finish.
The Lincoln net led a charmed life in the opening half hour. Bobby Zamora should have fired the Seagulls ahead and Andy Crosby had two headers well saved by Alan Marriott.
It was a similar story in the second half before a crowd of 3,021.
Paul Brooker had an effort cleared off the line by Grant Brown and substitute Nathan Jones, on in place of Ramsay, saw a 20-yard shot spectacularly deflected by the busy Marriott.
Cameron almost added insult to injury when he struck again with a minute left after Mark Cartwright parried Justin Walker's shot, but it was ruled out for offside.
Cameron's joy was plain for all to see following his nightmare spell with the Seagulls last season.
Albion, meanwhile, were left to reflect on a catalogue of missed chances and Marriott's brilliance.
