An American has tried to auction his right to choose the next President of the United States on the internet.

Bryan Ward, of Ellicott, Maryland, put his vote up for sale of the eBay site. After 20 bids the price rose from $5 to $10,100.

Mr Ward said the vote sale was a prank designed to expose political corruption.

But his joke could land him in court as selling votes is illegal in the U.S. eBay is expected to pull the offer.

Copycats have already tried to replicate Mr Ward with similar offers.
