David Gilbert, the Sussex County Cricket Club chief executive, is proud of having attracted 4,500 people to a floodlit game and makes the point that this included a vast number of children.
This may be true, but many of them played their own games around the ground and showed no interest in the cricket whatsoever.
He has assembled players that remain at second class county level. Even his captain says some of them lack cricket intelligence. I would not go that far. In fact, I feel sorry for them in the circumstances.
I do go along with David, however, when he gives a big thank you for the attendance at the match, but to me when a county club is delighted at such a low turnout, standards are poor indeed.
What is the future of cricket in Sussex?
