Delighted Glynde and Beddingham are the only club to complete the double at this year's Sussex Junior Festival.

Robert Mouland fired 37 to lead them to a five-wicket victory over Horsham in the under-13s final at Ardingly College.

Dominic Harris took 3-28, Shane McBrown 2-10 and Robert Williams 2-13 after Horsham were earlier dismissed for 79.

It followed the club's under-14s triumph with largely the same group of players and repeated the Sussex Cup victory over hapless Horsham in the ECB Championships this summer.

Manager Andrew Lusted said: "Horsham have been one of the biggest junior clubs in the county and it was good to beat them twice. Robert was our man of the match but our fielding was crucial and we took four high-class catches and managed two run outs.

"About six of the side performed for the under-14s, and four others were under-12s.

"We're only a small club but we managed to beat big clubs like Eastbourne, Lewes Priory, East Grinstead and Balcombe, as well as Horsham.

Fast-growing Glynde and Beddingham's under-14s were winners at under-11s in 1997 and the under-16s were finalists two years ago.

Lusted said: "We've got about 85-90 juniors now."

Glynde topped Group A, winning five matches out of five (from Eastbourne, Lewes, Bexhill, East Grinstead and Balcombe) and Horsham took Group B (from Cuckfield, Burgess Hill, Scaynes Hill, Ansty and Crawley.

G and B under-13s: Robert Mouland, Joe Adams, Ross Blackford, Philip Ives, Dominic Harris, Shane McBrown, Robert Williams, Jake Williams, Charlie White, Ed Miller, Simon Hayes. 12th man: Robert Marshall.

Tom Smith (Eastbourne) hit 53 versus Lewes, 87 not out v Bexhill and 90 not out v East Grinstead. Jonathan Hynes (Chichester) fired 106 against Felpham and Jack Birmingham (St Peter's, Brighton) claimed 7-20 versus Brighton and Hove.

Other group winners included: C: Roffey (St Peter's, Brighton and Hove, Preston Nomads, St James's Montefiore) D: Findon (Eastergate, Chichester, Goring, Angmering Manor, Felpham).

Toby Finzel delighted his dad when he cracked 67 not out and bowled 0-17 in seven overs to help Bexhill defeat Chichester Priory Park by just seven runs in the under-11s final at Great Walstead School, near Haywards Heath.

Toby also hit a century and took 4-3 while younger brother Max scored a 50 in a group game during the week against Scaynes Hill His father, team manager Steve, said: "Toby did exactly what I told him in the final and didn't give his wicket away and bowled tightly. I'm delighted. The last time Bexhill won the final it was decided on a bowl-out when the match was rained off so it is good to win it by playing."

Toby, a pupil at St Richards, said: "I was hot and tired but after the first few overs, when I was hitting the ball in the air, I settled down. It's the biggest thing I've ever won."

Sam Brown hit 29 and Ian May 21 as Bexhill totted up 163-3 but Chichester made a fight of it. Brandon Trimmer struck an unbeaten 71 as they ran out of time after their allotted 30 overs with six wickets still standing.

Their only female player, Sussex's Katie Ablitt, who played in every group match, missed the final because she was on holiday May took 7-6 against St James' Montefiore.

Bexhill finished top of Group D from St James's Montefiore B, Scaynes Hill and Burgess Hill, while Chichester also went through to the final on net run rate in Group F from Felpham and Bury.

Luke Wells, nine-year-old son of former Sussex skipper Allan, scored a 60 for Glynde and Beddingham.

Other group winners included: A: Eastbourne (from Glynde, Buxted Park and Uckfield). B: East Grinstead (Crawley, Three Bridges and Ifield). C: Horsham (St James's Montefiore A, Cuckfield and Ansty). E: Preston Nomads (Brighton and Hove), Goring and Findon.

Bexhill: Toby Finzel, Sam Brown, Max Finzel, Ian Jay, Ashley Lewis, Joseph Pallett, Oliver Curtis, Liam Palmer, Toby Clark, Stuart Lawson, Jack Ashton, It was estimated between 1,500 and 2,000 cricketers took part in the four weeks of the festival.

Chairman Peter Dickson said: "It was a good experience because the youngsters were able to play proper cricket rather than place too much emphasis on limited overs."

Meanwhile, Sussex under-19s reached the national final play-off with a four-wicket victory over Yorkshire in Middlesex with Brighton's Patrick Spencer (22) and Andrew Hodd (Bexhill) putting their side back on track after a wobble.

Matt Prior (Brighton) hit a 48 and Krishana Singh (Three Bridges) 23 while Luke Marshall (Horsham) also impressed as Sussex chased 166. But there was a middle-order hiccup leaving them at 110-6 before Spencer came in at No.8. Brighton's Stephen Ades took 5-33 off 22 overs and Glen Reid (Horsham) chipped in with 3-28 off 18 for the county.

Sussex under-19s defeated Buckinghamshire by six wickets at Stowe School thanks to an unbeaten 107 from Andrew Hodd (Bexhill) and 73 from the prolific Krishana Singh (Three Bridges).

Sussex under-15s finished third in the Southern Region League after drawing with Surrey at East Grinstead in their final match.

Manager Ian Gillespie said: "I was hoping to take a team through to the knockout finals for a third year but it wasn't to be. Even so It was a reasonable season which lost to the weather and a few poor results.

"Hugo Shephard (Preston Nomads, Fulking) and Jeremy Green (Brighton and Hove) were outstanding with bat and ball. "

Sussex under-14s drew against Middlesex in at Hastings in their last match.

Richard Young (Warden Park School, Cuckfield) hit an unbeaten 50 while after Oliver Rayner (St Bede's School, Upper Dicker) took three wickets.

Manager Keith Turk said: "It's been a disappointing season. We struggled against some big, physical sides."
