Horsham laid to rest a 97-year jinx when they won their first ever FA Cup game in Kent, but they made heavy weather of beating Lordswood 3-1.
Lordswood took the lead in the 20th minute when Clint Gooding fired in a free-kick which was deflected in off the head of Ryan Andrews.
Horsham equalised two minutes into first-half injury time. Gavin Geddes brought the ball into the penalty area and laid it back for Joe Clark to score.
Ryman League Hornets took the lead just before the hour through Geddes and the win was sealed in the 72nd minute from a Matt Smart free-kick. Geddes headed the ball against the post and Clark scored. Manager John Maggs said: "I'm glad to get it out of the way. That's easily the worst we've played all season."
Worthing's hopes of repeating last season's Cup exploits were shattered as Tooting and Mitcham strolled to a comfortable 3-0 win.
Tooting, who play one division below Worthing in Ryman division two, never looked back after Mickey Brady put them ahead with a looping header at the far post on 17 minutes.
Tooting's Mickey Rootes effectively put the game out of Worthing's reach on 77 minutes Nigel Webb sealed victory five minutes from time.
Ryman League division one outfit Bognor's miserable start to the season continued with a 3-2 home defeat against Cove.
They went a goal behind after 13 minutes when Jay Pickering brought down Ian Macey and Stuart Willes scored from the spot.
The Rocks equalised in the 33rd minute when Adie Miles found Neil Scammell who drove home.
Mancey regained the lead for Cove in the 57th minute. Bognor equalised for the second time in the 80th minute through David Wright.
Bognor's Jamie Howell returned after summer surgery, but was dismissed deep into injury time for his second bookable offence.
The visitors stole the game in the dying seconds, when Chris Osborne rose unchallenged to head home Bognor manager Jack Pearce said "No complaints, they wanted it more than us."
