Everyone was a winner when the Ansty Garden Club staged its first show.

But no prizes were awarded because the display at the village hall was the rehearsal to a competitive event later in the year.

Show spokeswoman Suzanne Mace said: "We only put it on as an exhibition because it is the first time we have done something like this. We wanted to encourage people to exhibit, but they didn't want their pieces judged.

"We hope that next time people might be a bit bolder and enter them for judging."

But Harriet Evans, six, got a commendation for her vegetable Larry the Lamb and Melanie the Rabbit sculptures. All children were given a certificate for entering.
