What a pity Mid Sussex District Council has reduced the refuse service provided to residents when there was a golden opportunity to actually improve on it.
Small quantities of garden waste used to be collected along with household rubbish, no questions asked. But the new contractors toss aside bins or bags which contain even small amounts of grass clippings or pruning. And there they sit, rotting away.
This action will doubtless lead to the same council's environmental health office being called out to deal with the resulting infestation and health risks.
