Sussex coach Peter Moores is joining the England set-up.
The 38-year-old will coach England A on their tour of West Indies early next year.
Moores, who took over as Sussex coach in 1998 after 13 years keeping wicket for the county, today described his appointment as 'a very proud moment.'
Details of the squad and itinerary are yet to be confirmed, but England could take part in the Busta Cup, the domestic competition in the Caribbean.
He said: "It's a great honour and a very proud moment for me. I certainly didn't have to think long about accepting when I was asked to do the job.
"To be honest it wasn't something I had thought about. But it will be a great experience working with players from other counties and hopefully one or two from Sussex as well.
"If we could play in the Busta Cup that would be a real bonus," added Moores. "It would give the whole tour an extra focus."
Moores' immediate concern is trying to guide his side to victory in tonight's crucial National League game against Gloucestershire at Hove (4.10pm).
Sunday's defeat by leaders Yorkshire has left Sussex hovering just above the relegation zone and they must win at least one of their two remaining games if they are to avoid an immediate return to Division Two.
Gloucestershire beat Lancashire yesterday and know that victories in their remaining matches could help them complete an unprecedented clean sweep of the one-day trophies.
