Some games are great, some become classics but very few get known as standards.
Grand Prix 3 by Geoff Crammond on the PC is such a comprehensive simulation of the high-tech circus it will certainly be updated but surely never beaten.
It does all the things Grand Prix simulators have always done but with almost photo-realistic crashes which see wheels and wings fly off.
It can all be watched again and again on an action replay option.
One of the most remarkable but little mentioned sides of the game is its ability to run on even the most pathetic PC.
It does not look so impressive on a 16mb dinosaur but it works.
Help modes mean beginners do not even have to worry about breaking or gears, just steering the thing in the right direction.
If you wanted to pick holes you could point out the sound is unremarkable and a restart option in the middle of the races would be nice to put right those first-corner coming-togethers.
