Preparations are underway to mark the first birthday of a Hindu temple.
The Brighton and Hove Hindu community bought the building in Trafalgar Road, Portslade, for £150,000. It had previously been the Southern Cross Club.
Volunteers from 130 local families worked tirelessly to prepare the Shree Swaminarayan temple for its opening last September.
Many of the helpers worked around the clock and some even slept in the building.
A carved altar and religious figures were imported to form the centrepiece of the first Hindu temple in Sussex.
Hindu community spokes-man Ashok Patel said: "We are looking forward to celebrating our first year here."
The temple will be open from Thursday until Sunday.
