Model-maker Ted Bayley has got Brighton's Royal Pavilion down to a fine art with his recreation of the famous landmark.
Mr Bayley has just added the finishing touches to his three-foot high model of the former royal residence, which has taken him almost six months to build from plywood, using just a saw, a knife and sandpaper.
Retired decorator Mr Bayley, 85, of Anglesea Street, Worthing, started work on the model by taking a postcard of the Pavilion. He then prefabricated what he calls the "onions" on the top before hand-making the remainder of the model.
Mr Bayley said: "I bought a little lathe, but almost 95 per cent of it is made with a saw, a knife and glass-paper."
The great-grandfather said: "All I want to do is keep my hands and mind occupied, otherwise you might as well pack up."
