Eastbourne's Jordan Freitas wrenched the 18 and under crown from reigning champion Pavel Shishkanov at the Sussex Junior Championships at Lewes.
Freitas, who reached the last eight of the National Championships at Nottingham, lost the final to Worthing's Daniel Wooley in 1997 and 1998 and failed to reach the deciding match last year.
But Freitas, 16 and under champion for the previous three years, made no mistake against Shishkanov, beating his Crowhurst opponent 6-3, 6-1.
He said: "I felt comfortable. I was bolstered by my play at Nottingham and thought if I had a steady week I could win.
"It is difficult playing against Pavel because we know each other so well as we train and knock up together.
"I am still young enough to defend my title next year but during the winter I will be looking to qualify for the LTA 18 and under indoor circuit and may play in some Girobank Tour events.
"But my first real test will be when I take part in the Sussex Senior Closed Championships.
In the girls 18 under final, Hove's Zoe Froud, last year's runner-up, carried too many guns for Lewes' Carla Leach and won 6-3, 6-3.
There was no compensation for Carla, top seed for the 16 and unders, in her own age group.
The remarkable 12-year-old Francesca Scollo (Eastbourne) beat her 6-3, 7-5 in the semi-finals before securing the crown by overcoming Caroline Goldring (Horsham) 7-5, 6-3.
Francesca became the only player this year to win two individual titles when she won the 14 and under title, beating Joasia Zajac (Maresfield) 6-4, 6-4. She said: "I'm still young enough to play at 12 and under, but I like to play up in big tournaments.
"I was expected to win the 14 and unders, but I hoped that I could also win the 16 and unders.
"It was a close match and Caroline played well but I was determined to win both titles.
"I spend some time at Bisham Abbey with the LTA squad and have done several tours with LTA teams.
"I'm off to Italy this week for some more coaching and training and I am planning to do some of the LTA Indoor Circuit events during the winter."
Next year this talented 5ft.4in youngster could return to defend both her titles.
