As much as I disagree with the views expressed by M. Wilson regarding the Queen Mother not paying her way (Argus, August 29), I fully appreciate he has the right to express them.

On the question of paying taxes, only a few decades ago, tens of thousands of us were sent overseas to various countries to play a game called fighting a war. This also was at the tax-payers' expense. Perhaps M. Wilson was one of us.

If we had lost this game there is no doubt we would not now have royalty for him to despise. By winning it we have the freedom and the right to express our views whatever the subject. Let us all count our blessings.
