Closing Maderia Drive in Brighton during conferences so those attending them can park and leave conveniently is a recipe for chaos. I recall an occasion last year when town centre roads were choked when people tried to leave a conference at the same time.
I understand conferences are an important part of our local economy, but why are we letting these people bring their cars into town just to leave them in the street all day and then drive out again?
Surely, for big events, Brighton and Hove Council could make provision for drivers to leave their vehicles outside town at a secure site so those of us that have to use the town centre can do so without suffering extra congestion?
