Mark Cartwright is ready to remain as Albion's No. 1.
The goalkeeper's month on loan from Wrexham expires after tonight's trip to Blackpool.
Manager Micky Adams hopes to thrash out fresh terms for the 27-year-old, with the length of the deal the only apparent stumbling block.
"I am talking to Mark's agent, Brian Flynn (Wrexham manager) and Dick Knight (Albion chairman)," Adams said. "Between us we will have to come to some sort of decision.
"Mark looked very comfortable at Cardiff on Saturday, although he only had one shot to save. The boy and his agent would prefer a two-year deal. I prefer either extending his loan or giving him a job until the end of the season.
"We've got four days until our next game against Cheltenham to sort things out, so I'm not working too hard to resolve it straight away. I've got other options, just in case."
Cartwright has been ever-present between the sticks since replacing Michel Kuipers at half time in the opening day defeat at Southend.
He is looking for his first cleansheet at Bloomfield Road tonight as Albion bid to stretch their unbeaten run to four games.
Andy Crosby, available again after a three-match ban, and 24-year-old trialist Cherif Diallo are added to the squad. Senegal-born striker Diallo had spells with Monaco and Nice club Draguignan.
Adams said: "An agent put us in touch, so I am having a look at him. I've seen him in training and he's done allright, although he speaks no English."
Crosby will probably have to settle for a place on the bench, with Adams likely to name the same starting line-up for the third match running.
Paul Brooker came on early in the second half for skipper Paul Rogers in both of the 1-1 draws against Cardiff and Millwall.
"I am trying to give us a chance to still be in games in the second half,"Adams said. "It's not designed to be negative and it certainly hasn't been in the way we have played."
