Daryl Burchmore would do anything to appear in a James Bond film - so much so, he has made his own.

It may not feature action heroes, hell-bent baddies and a wealth of hi-tech gadgets, but From Eastbourne with Love is probably the closest Daryl will get to being 007.

For the past 21 years, Daryl has been an avid collector of anything James Bond.

His addiction, which begun with a trip to the cinema to see Moonraker in 1979, culminated four years ago with an exhibition of his Bond memorabilia at the Towner Art Gallery.

The event was filmed and features on Daryl's very own 007 film along with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of when one of the famous opening stunts from the films was shot in the town.

The late Desmond Llewelyn, who played gadget man Q in 17 Bond blockbusters, also features on the video and Daryl is keen for his film to be seen as a tribute to his former friend.

He said: "The video is a history of how I came into collecting and my love for the Bond films. We've released it to coincide with the release of the films on DVD, but also for Desmond."

Daryl, aged 37, from Eastbourne, has hoarded his collection at his home which he shares with wife Jane and baby son Owen.

It includes rare posters, mint-condition toys and original props, including a wheel from a car sent over Beachy Head in 1986 as part of the opening scene of The Living Daylights.

But Daryl's pride and joy is his collection of autographs, which includes all five main Bond actors.

He said: "I've been lucky enough to meet them all. My favourite Bond will always be Sean Connery but the nicest in person was Timothy Dalton, he was very down to earth."

Over the years, Daryl has become arguably the world's Number 1 Bond fan. But his 007 craze has taken a back-seat more recently after the birth of his first child, Owen, although he refrained from naming him anything Bond related such as Oddjob or Jaws.

He said: "To be honest my interest in the latest films is wavering. They are not as good as they once were.

"My interest is mainly in the first six films, they had a special style all of their own. Now they are either very violent or full of talk with the odd set-piece."

Daryl, who counts On Her Majesty's Secret Service as his favourite 007 film, has one remaining ambition to fulfil. He said: "I have always wanted to appear in one of the films, just for a moment. I would be a dead body if it just meant being in one."

Daryl, who works at Battle Abbey, said: "James Bond is unquestionably the icon of the 20th Century."

Cult band The Cuban Boys' own version of the famous Bond theme will be given away free with the video to internet customers.
