A woman has been overwhelmed by support for her campaign to save one of Brighton's oldest seafront attractions.
The paddling pool near the West Pier was closed this month by Brighton and Hove Council.
The pool has been a fixture for 65 years and provided free entertainment for thousands of youngsters. The neighbouring toilets are also being closed.
Katrina Palsager, who has two children, Emily and Daniel, was horrified by the plan and launched a petition to save it.
More than 50 people have already backed her campaign and want to take further action.
The Brighton Society has criticised the plan and The Argus has been flooded with letters from concerned residents.
Miss Palsager, from Brighton, said: "I have had a lot of people contact me who feel very strongly the pool should stay but we still need more support. Everyone has to get together on this to make sure the council changes its mind."
Brighton and Hove Council is spending £660,000 building a wet and dry play area by the bandstand on the border of Brighton and Hove.
Council chiefs argue the West Pier pool is sub-standard and is no longer worth repairing. Work on the new area will start at the end of the month and it is expected to open next summer.
The West Pier pool will be covered up and left empty unless the protesters can force a rethink.
