Alex King is targeting a cup final rematch against Northampton to make his long-awaited return from a niggling shoulder injury.

The Brighton-born outside half was ruled out of England's tour to South Africa and the opening games of Wasps' league season.

But he is back in full training and revealed: "The shoulder feels fantastic and my target date is the Northampton game on October 1.

"I'm getting back to contact work and preparing for all the situations you come across in a game.

"It has probably done me good to have a lay-off because I feel totally fresh and fitter than I have ever been."

King, whose last major outing saw him help Wasps beat Northampton 31-23 in the Tetley's Bitter Cup final, has been joined on the sidelines by fellow internationals Trevor Leota and Lawrence Dallaglio.

The latter's absence in the opening three league games allowed Will Green to take over the Wasps captaincy and the Eastbourne College old boy was in superb form.

Chichester-born scrum half Mike Friday has moved from Wasps to Harlequins, where he teams up with former Haywards Heath flanker Roy Winters, who left relegated Bedford during the summer.

Bristol flanker Adam Vander, formerly with East Grinstead and Haywards Heath, has earned rave reviews of late and, along with Chichester-born lock Jim Brownrigg, has already got on the scoresheet.

Premiership Two goes by the name of National Division One but it is business as usual for Andy Higgins. The Horsham youngster has retained his first team spot at ambitious Worcester.
