It was Crawley's turn to suffer the anguish of a late goal at Dorchester last night but they still went top of the Dr Martens premier division after a 2-2 draw.
Two strikes from super sub Francis Vines looked to have earned Crawley an unlikely away win and the 90 minutes were up when Dorchester's Andy Harris took out the entire defence with a floated cross to the far post and on-loan AFC Bournemouth striker Justin Keeler knocked in the Dorset club's point saver.
It would have been an injustice for Dorchester - who were beaten by an injury time free-kick from Matt Wolf at Crawley a couple of weeks ago - had they been left with nothing to show from a pulsating game.
They were the more polished side throughout the first half and Crawley goalkeeper Andy Little had to make fine saves from Keeler and Matt Groves.
Wolf missed with a free header from close range when Crawley finally threatened straight after the break but it was Dorchester who got a lucky goal to go ahead after 59 minutes.
A corner from Matt Holmes dropped over the top of a crowd of players in the goalmouth before bouncing in off Groves' knee.
Billy Smith sent on Vines on the hour and within five minutes he turned in a left wing corner from Danny Carroll.
Three minutes later Crawley's travelling fans were beside themselves when Vines turned a defender and drove the ball home from 15 yards.
Resilient Dorchester should have levelled when Marcus Oldbury headed over an open goal from five yards and when Holmes cross beat Little defender Nigel Brake was on hand to clear off the goal line.
l Lewes played Cove in a delayed FA Cup tie at a soaking wet Dripping Pan and a replay will be needed on Monday after the two sides drew 2-2.
Lewes had the better of the first half but it was the visitors who opened the scoring after nine minutes when a mistake in the home defence let in Lee Cooke who beat keeper Graham Leach.
Three minutes later Lewes equalised when a header by Warren Bagnall from a corner struck the bar and Tommy Pattenden struck in the rebound.
The Rooks took the lead on 65 minutes when Bagnall cut the ball back after a good run down the left for Paul Stokes to hammer home past three defenders on the line.
Cove equalised 11 minutes from time when Stuart Willes prodded home from close range after a goalline scramble.
The eventual winners will play Langney Sports on Saturday week and Lewes will hope for a good crowd in the Sussex Derby if they overcome Cove.
Isle of Wight visitors Cowes Sports were sunk 6-0 by Horsham YMCA in their replay as Phil Churchill grabbed a five-goal haul with Lee Butcher adding to the scoresheet.
East Preston's trip to Merstham was postponed and they now meet on Monday.
In the John O'Hara League Cup first qualifying round, Sidlesham defeated visitors Oving 4-2 with their goals coming from Adam Camfield and a Wayne eastman hat-trick.
All other matches were postponed.
