Eastbourne rider Stefan Danno was sensationally banned from the European Grand Prix in Poland on Saturday.
Danno was barred from riding after failing a breath test and now faces further action by the FIM, the sport's governing body.
It is not the first time the Swedish star, who is due to ride for Eastbourne in their vital Elite League title showdown with King's Lynn on Saturday, has been involved in controversy.
Three years ago, he was accused of assaulting two high-ranking FIM officials at a Grand Prix meeting. He was later cleared at a disciplinary hearing.
Danno needed to move up one position in the final Grand Prix rankings to gain one of the ten automatic places in next year's world championship series. Now the best he can hope for is to qualify via the Grand Prix Challenge at the end of the season.
Eastbourne team-mate Joe Screen will also go to the Challenge meeting after failing to finish in the top ten in this year's championship.
Mark Loram is the new world champion after coming sixth in the last Grand Prix of the season in Bydgoscz.
