I was stunned to read the deplorable piece of derogatory fiction regarding the proposed new rehabilitation centre in Dyke Road, Brighton (Argus, September 21).
Yet again, we see hordes of paranoid, hysterical, misguided people pointing judgmental fingers at a corner of society which hasn't been dealt such a good hand.
Look at facts instead of fiction. Firstly, residents' fears of street drinking are totally unfounded. Phoenix House has a strict no alcohol or illicit drugs policy. There are regular checks to make sure rules are not being broken.
I cannot believe Christopher Thomson, principal of the college in Dyke Road, fails to understand the word rehabilitation. Maybe he should look for a job which doesn't entail teaching morals.
The idea families, who have taken the brave step of going down the road of recovery for their own sake, as well as their children's, would then prey on local children like pariahs, is quite remarkable.
These families should be applauded and society should support them every step of the way. Objecting residents should hang their heads in shame.
