Mark Jones and John Limpus inspired by the medal-winning performances of British cyclists in the Olympics, have won a tandem race in France.
The GS Stella pair took the Duo Normand race in Normandy, covering the 50km course in 1hr.14min.1sec and breaking the course record by 2min.53sec.
The Sussex and Surrey Veterans' 25-mile Time Trial at Maresfield saw Paul Woodman (Team 2000) record the fastest time of the day, 53min.59sec. Second and third fastest were Sussex's Dave Pollard (In Gear) with 55m.46sec and Richard Sutton (VC Etoile) clocking 57min.28sec.
The handicap award was won by Steve Aveley, from Tooting, who recorded 1hr.3min.35sec for a plus of 18min.55sec.
The first Sussex rider was Charles Robson (Eastbourne Rovers), who clocked 1hr.7min.36sec for fifth with 15min.31sec.
Paul Byford won the main six-lap event from Jerry Manthorpe and Olly Ayers in the Horsham Riders Mountain Bike Races at Northlands Woods.
The four-lap race resulted in a win for Barry Dunstan while the two-lap event was won by Roger Campbell.
Sussex Division officials agreed at the county AGM to stay in their present positions to ensure a smooth changeover when it merges with the British Cycling Federation's new South East Region in January.
A 2001 track programme of 14 meeting at Preston Park was approved and the eight Hove Park Circuit Races will continue next summer.
Thirty six teams have entered the Lewes Wanderers 18-mile Veterans' Time Trial at Laughton on Sunday. Each team consists of a veteran rider and his pacer and it is the time of the veteran that counts.
The veterans have looked for speedy pacers. Phil Blagden (Crawley Wheelers) will be paced by Sussex 25-mile champion Steve Elms (In Gear).
