NEW Hastings Town boss George Wakeling has wasted little time in drawing up the battle lines for the season.
Wakeling, who accepted the post yesterday lunchtime, insists the campaign objective is simple - promotion.
He said: "I live in Bromley and I have no intention of driving down to Hastings every week just to finish mid-table.
"It's early days in the season and this club is easily capable of getting promoted."
White told the Dr Martens League Eastern Division players he was resigning on Tuesday night and he is being linked with the vacant reserve team manager's post at Albion.
He was running the Hastings side for the last time at Folkestone in the FA Cup this afternoon.
Wakeling met the players after the match and has promised everyone will get their chance to show their talents.
He said: "Dean got some good young players together here. I'll be looking to continue his good work and who knows maybe take it further.
"This is an ambitious club and I am looking forward to the challenge."
The new boss already knows Paul Tuppenny and Stuart Playford from his spell in charge at Ashford.
He has not signed a contract with the club, saying: "Why should I do that? I think I can trust the people who run Hastings."
Wakeling is well known in Kent non-league circles. He also managed Bromley.
