Albion boss Micky Adams is the Third Division Manager of the Month for September.

The award was announced this morning after Saturday's 2-0 home win against Leyton Orient rounded off a remarkable month for the Seagulls.

Adams passed on the credit to the players for his second award since taking charge of the Seagulls. He said: "Any award I get is a reflection on the performances the lads are producing on the pitch.

"It is nice to go through the whole month without a defeat. But now September has gone and we move on to October."

Saturday's win was their fifth League victory in an unbeaten month which also included draws at big-spending Cardiff and second division Millwall in the Worthington Cup.

Skipper Paul Rogers and defender Kerry Mayo clinched Albion's fourth victory on the trot against Orient.

They also stretched their undefeated sequence to seven matches and have now not conceded a goal for more than six hours.

Adams was especially pleased with the second-half display on a boggy Withdean pitch.

Manner "It was a great win," he said. "Sometimes the manner in which you take the three points pleases managers even more than the result and our second-half performance was outstanding, the best I have seen for a while.

"We were terrific all around the pitch and just wanted the second goal to come. After that it was game over."

Rogers headed Albion into the lead from a Paul Watson cross in the first half. "The lads are very confident at the moment and we are playing some good football." Rogers said.

Albion are still in fourth place, a point behind Cheltenham and Rochdale and six adrift of leaders Chesterfield, ahead of Friday night's visit to improving Hull.

Graham Taylor, of Watford, gets the Division One award and Alan Pardew, Reading, the Division Two prize.
