Worthing Council was too wordy for the Highways Agency when it designed new signs welcoming people to the town.
It wanted to include a six-word slogan: Centre for Business, Shopping and Leisure.
But the Agency said four words was the maximum allowed on its roads such as the A27.
Now the council is having to cut out the first two words from its cumbersome Slogan - a sign that it should have been short and snappy in the first place.
