Albion manager Micky Adams has unveiled Bob Booker as his new No. 2.

The former Brentford and Sheffield United player replaces Alan Cork, who left for Cardiff last month.

Booker completes Adam's revamped backroom staff. The appointment of ex-Hastings boss Dean White as reserve coach and chief scout was revealed in later editions of yesterday's Argus.

Booker, 42, was on the coaching staff when Adams was in charge at Brentford. He has recently been involved in running the reserve and youth teams at Griffin Park.

Adams said: "Bob is very enthusiastic, hard working and dedicated. He is one of those lads who will do anything for anybody.

"He wants to learn, he has got strong opinions and he is not afraid to express them.

"The beauty is he has already worked with five or six of the lads. He was at Sheffield United with Darren Carr and at Brentford with all our Brentford boys, so it is not as if he is a complete stranger."

Brooker said: "I am totally delighted. It was out of the blue. I have kept in contact with the gaffer since he left Brentford and once he made the offer I wasn't going to turn it down.

"It's a big career move for me and I am going to throw myself into it.

"I have done my ground work with the kids and reserves, this is the next step up and I am not going to let the club down."

One of White's main tasks will be to spot and nurture young Sussex talent.

Adams said: "He has tremendous knowledge of the lower leagues, particularlty in and around Sussex. I want us to start tapping into that scene."

White jumped at the chance to be reunited with Adams, a former team-mate when they played at Gillingham.

The 41-year-old, who was also a pro at Chelsea and Millwall.

He said: "I am really looking forward to it.

"This is a chance for me to go full time, which is something I have always wanted.

"I have always done well with young players. Hopefully I can do that for Brighton."

Meanwhile, Michel Kuipers was in goal for Albion's reserves last night against Oxford as regular No. 1 Mark Cartwright is a doubt for Friday night's game with Hull due to a niggling injury.
