An elderly woman has donated her pension money to help support a ban on juggernauts in her village.
The woman gave £50 towards measures to stop the stream of lorries which residents claim is ruining their quality of life and making the roads dangerous.
Campaigners are locked in discussions with county and parish councillors over traffic calming measures and No Lorries signs.
Ringmer Against Drivers Acting Recklessly has also enlisted the support of Lewes MP Norman Baker, who has offered to stand with campaigners at the roadside the number of companies whose lorries go through the village.
The aim is to go to drivers' employers and ask them to justify their use of the route.
Mr Baker said: "I'm not out to cause trouble with people. If there is a particular operator who is using the route and it's apparent there is no logical reason, then I may make representations.
"If a particular problem makes itself apparent, I'm happy to follow that through, whatever it is."
Radar says lorries travelling from places such as Hailsham, Hastings and Eastbourne travel via Ringmer and Lewes before rejoining the A27 to try to avoid jams.
The group has just sent out its first newsletter and members say they have been swamped with messages of support and offers of help.
Chairman Graham Hunter said that even included elderly ladies who were prepared to stand in the streets in all weathers to keep the campaign going.
He said: "It's poignant that an old age pensioner is so inspired by the campaign that she has put up £50 to get the fund-raising started."
