Giving money to beggars is wrong, because it encourages them to feed their drug habits. Instead, why not pop into a shop and buy some sandwiches, bar of chocolate and even a small bag of dried food for the inevitably accompanying dog. Whenever I have done this the 'beggar' has been extremely grateful. They are still people and should not be ignored as if they are the scum of society.
It is still possible to be kind without feeding someone's potentially deadly drug habits. We cannot just ignore those on our own streets.
