Albion manager Micky Adams has told Lee Steele he must wait for his chance.

Steele has still not started a first team match following his summer move from Shrewsbury.

The striker was brought on for the third time in four games in Friday night's 2-0 win at Hull.

He has scored five goals in the last three reserve outings since recovering from an ankle injury sustained as a second half substitute on the opening day of the season at Southend.

But Adams is reluctant to tamper with a team in such a rich vein of form.

"The problem I've got at the moment is keeping the lads happy that aren't involved," said Adams. "All the while we are getting wins they have to accept it.

"I've had chats with Lee Steele over the last two weeks. He can't do any more than he is in the reserves, but I keep quoting Alex Ferguson.

"If he can keep all that lot happy at Manchester United why can't I do that here?"

Paul Brooker made his seventh successive appearance as a sub at Hull.

Andy Crosby has been restricted to the bench since returning from a three-match ban, while Rod Thomas and close season capture Steve Melton have also been regular replacements.

"We have got quality players for this division on the bench at the moment and they are going to be frustrated," Adams said.

"But they are good pros. They are showing the right attitude in the reserves.

"You have got to get on with it. I wouldn't expect anyone to be happy in the reserves, but while the first team are performing you have got to be ready for action. It's no use sulking and then not performing when you get in the team."
