Anyone who has suffered from a MS Windows system crash will be keen to look at a comprehensive Linux software suite from France.
Function-wise, Linux-Mandrake 7.1 looks remarkably like MS Office.
The difference, according to the developers, is Linux doesn't crash!
Linux, in its basic form, is an open source operating system that is free to download from the internet.
Clever developers, like Mandrake, have taken the open source code and turned it into a saleable product.
Installation of Linux-Mandrake is quick and easy and installed alongside my existing MS Windows 98 operating system, allowing me to choose either Linux or Windows to run my programmes.
Linux-Mandrake applications are invariably excellent.
Everything works and although the commands take a minute or two to learn, they are very similar to anything available for the MS Windows platform.
