Much nonsense has been spouted in the wake of Ann Widdecombe's zero tolerance on cannabis pronouncement at the Conservative Party Conference. Not least is the oft-repeated pro-drugs lobby statement that soft drugs are safer than cigarettes or alcohol.

What these addle-headed bores omit to tell us is cannabis is almost always smoked in a mixture of tobacco, actually increasing the risk of cancer-related disease and that driving under its influence is responsible for many fatal accidents on our roads. Legalisation would be madness. Cannabis kills.
