The 3 Com PC Digital WebCam is the very first USB web camera I have used that worked first time without any arguments.
True "plug and play" is alive and well, although I'm rather surprised to find myself writing this!
The camera is a beautifully designed piece of equipment, complete with a sensible 3m lead that sits atop a monitor or clips on to a laptop computer and acts as a movie or still camera, depending upon the application used to drive it.
It comes complete with excellent software that facilitates video snapshots and video e-mail although I wasn't too impressed with its video phone call functionality.
The camera comes supplied with PictureWorks Live, PictureWorks netcard for video e-mail, Microsoft NetMeeting for video conferencing over the internet, Webcam 32 and RealNetworks G2 player for streaming audio and video.
The camera is easy to carry because it can be detached from its cable and is easily moved between computers - vital if you want to use it at home and at work.
Picture quality in general is surprisingly good, although the user really shouldn't expect miracles from a webcam that costs less than a cheap digital camera.
