Labour councillor John Ballance's recent comments regarding the proposed incinerator in Newhaven show how arrogant Brighton councillors appear.
Is Labour's only goal to ensure the incinerator is sited anywhere other than Brighton, or, God forbid, Hove? If we have to have an incinerator - and I'm not sure we do - why not a Brighton incinerator for Brighton's rubbish? There are numerous brown field sites within the Brighton area where it could be located.
I agree completely with Coun. Ballance that the Environment Agency must be involved early. Can it tell us, once and for all, exactly where the best site for an incinerator would be for Brighton's rubbish, taking into account all the issues?
