People who watch Sir Michael Caine's next film, called Last Orders, may be surprised when they look at scenes supposed to have been filmed in Margate.
The ailing Kentish resort lost its pier a long time ago, so seaside filming had to take place at Eastbourne.
A tiny patch of sand even had to be imported to replicate the beach in Margate, which is far less pebbly than Eastbourne at high tide.
Let's hope no one from Margate notices the celluloid deception. Otherwise, the resulting protests, if filmed, would have to be called The Caine Mutiny.
