A lorry driver broke his leg when his vehicle rolled back on top of him, pinning him down.

The 38-year-old was getting out of his parked recovery in Cambridge Road, Hove, when it started to roll backwards because the handbrake had not been set correctly.

He was pushed to the ground and trapped under the front offside wheel of the vehicle.

The emergency services were called to rescue the man at 7.20pm on Friday.

He was taken to the Royal Sussex Hospital in Brighton and treated for a broken left leg.

The man has not been named by Sussex Police, who operate data protection guidelines.
