Relatives of Jay Abatan, who died after being assaulted outside a Brighton nightclub, have been given hope with two new leads.
Friends and relatives gathered to pay tribute to Jay outside the Ocean Rooms club in Morley Street to mark the father-of-two's birthday.
Jay, 42, from Eastbourne, was left in a coma following a dispute over a taxi in January last year. He died a week later.
His brother Michael organised the tribute and says he spoke to two men who might have information about the attacker.
Mr Abatan said he was hopeful about the fresh information, although it had yet to be confirmed.
He suffered a cut and black eye in the assault which led to his brother's death and has since campaigned to bring Jay's killers to justice.
Mr Abatan said: "We were stopping people, asking if they had seen anything on the night, and these two guys said they might have some information.
"I am quite hopeful but am going to be looking into it further. I hope to be speaking to these two guys again and am waiting for them to call."
Mr Abatan said: "It was pretty lucky to find them. But if you just sit at home nothing will happen. We have to keep getting out there and try to find out who attacked Jay that night."
Des Turner, MP for Brighton Kemp Town, joined in the tribute.
