I would like the parents of baby Rhys to know they are not alone in the treatment they received from Brighton and Hove Council bereavement services manager, Stephen Horlock. He also had toys removed from my son Kevin's (P-Nut) grave the day after what would have been his eighth birthday.
In a letter to me, he explained he had received complaints daily from owners of nearby graves at the Woodvale Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
While there are many tended graves there are also many sunken ones. Surely maintenance should be a prime concern at any cemetery, not the removal of items placed on graves by grieving parents?
After what is probably the most traumatic experience any parent can suffer, making the graves of their beloved children look more pleasant brings some comfort. Surely this should be beyond mere bureaucracy?
