Residents and visitors can take a break from shopping or sightseeing to e-mail friends and surf the net thanks to a new town centre cybercafe.

Pursuit Internet, in Brighton's Preston Street, offers customers the chance to use the net while having a cup of coffee or a snack in relaxed surroundings.

Its ten computers are connected to the net via the latest ADSL technology, which operates up to 40 times faster than a standard modem.

Jennifer Hau, marketing executive for Pursuit Internet, said: "ADSL is quite simply the future of internet connection and by using it in this environment, we are leading the way to better, faster and more reliable links to the internet.

"With its stylish surroundings, Pursuit Internet offers ample workspace, even for the left handed, and has a warm relaxed feel.

"It should be the first stop for those who do not have ready access to the internet."

Customers are charged on a minute-by-minute basis at rates starting from £2.40 per hour off-peak. The cafe is open from 10am to 10pm, seven days a week.
