In reply to the letter howling at parking enforcement in the St. James's Street area (Argus, October 14), conflicts often occur when business owners think it is their God-given right to park illegally outside their premises all day. These people are then the first to complain when they have no
customers.
The St James's Street scheme encourages customers to park for a maximum 30-minute period while they shop.
Those opposing the scheme should bear in mind St James's Street is a residential area with a small commercial area within it. Community safety is therefore important and those disobeying traffic regulations put children, parents and the elderly at risk, while disabled access is restricted.
Consider the community's welfare and stop thinking only of your business interests. Don't park illegally and, if you do, be prepared to pay to get your car back after it is towed away.
