Gale force winds and heavy rain are set to lash Sussex this weekend, leading to fears of a further round of flooding.
Force seven winds were forecast to hit the South on Saturday morning before dying down briefly, then picking up again in the evening.
The Environment Agency will detail extra staff to monitor the coastline around Selsey and keep a watch on sea defences along the Medmerry Frontage.
The agency will also monitor water levels on the rivers Uck and Ouse in case heavy rain leads to burst banks.
Heavy rainfall more than two weeks ago led to millions of pounds' worth of flood damage to Lewes and Uckfield.
An agency spokesman said: "The forecast for Sunday does show more rain coming in but we can't confirm whether there will be a risk of flooding on the Ouse or Uck until Sunday morning. We will, however, be monitoring the situation."
Meteorologist Graeme Kelly said: "It will be a pretty abysmal weekend. It will not matter where you are, as there will be strong winds and heavy rain everywhere.
"On Saturday night, the winds will pick up and we are looking at widespread gales over Britain.
"The North Sea and English Channel will experience severe southerly gales and over high ground the winds will be strongest.
"On Sunday, the forecast is again for strong winds in all areas, with coastal and exposed areas worst affected.
"The unsettled weather will continue with strong winds on Monday."
