Ken Chambers is right when he says the sloth and inefficiency of the nationalised railways has not been improved on by the profit-driven greed and lack of safety of the privatised system (Opinion, October 25).
After Hatfield and Paddington, even Railtrack seems to agree with this. But you don't have to be writing a political "tirade" to point it out. You could just be writing column in a local paper constantly arguing for investment and services which will benefit the whole town and population of Brighton and Hove.
We want a decent development as soon as possible on the station site and safe and efficient railways. Is this too much for us Brighton and Hovians to ask of Railtrack boss Gerald Corbett?
