How triumphant our do-gooders must be that Chief Lord Justice Woolfe thinks Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, the young killers of two-year-old James Bulger, have made progress in detention and may be released after serving only eight years.
There was little to suggest the pair would make much progress before their horrific crime. Now we know that not only can murder be largely got away with, it can even be made to pay handsomely. Who's for a decent
education?
If we were to ship our batty judges, do-gooders, trendies and the two young killers over to Europe with the Bill of Human Rights, we would improve common sense and justice here. Spare some sympathy also for the innocent little victim and his parents.
