Motorists faced more misery on the A27 this morning after heavy rains hit already saturated areas.
Workmen are battling to prevent flooding on the eastbound carriageway of the A27 between Sompting and Shoreham.
An industrial pump has been drafted in to remove water, which is being diverted through pipes, past the Sussex Pad pub, to the River Adur.
One lane of the carriageway was closed, causing long traffic delays this morning.
The delays have led to additional delays on the A24 at Findon as motorists seek an alternative route away from the A27.
Meanwhile the A29 between Bognor Regis and Fontwell was closed due to flooding. A diversion is in place.
And there were long delays on the A259 coast road between Shoreham and Worthing.
