Chrissie Earl from Livingstone Road (Opinion, December 11) is right that the 80p CentreFare will increase to £1 and I accept this is the downside to the four-month flat-fare trial which begins next month.
But there will be benefits, including simplicity of fare collection and the 30p
reduction for £1.30 fare payers.
Interestingly, in 1990, before CentreFare was introduced, the fare from Livingstone Road to the Old Steine was £1.
