Want to make a fashion statement that'll last longer than one party? Well a Sussex shop reckons it has the answer.

According to Jump The Gun in North Street, Brighton, Velcro T-shirts are what we'll all be wearing to our New Year parties.

The shirts come with a bag of Velcro-backed letters, numbers and punctuation marks which can be attached to the garment in whatever slogan you like - and changed at the drop of a hat.

The £20 shirts have been so successful that Hamleys, House of Fraser and Top Shop have all been stocking them.

And staff at Jump The Gun, have been amazed by the nationwide response to the line.

Adam Le Roy, 34, one of the owners, said: "We probably sell 25 a week here. It is just the perfect gift for parents who do not know what to buy their kids. Some people get shirts with band names on them but they change every five minutes.

"They have been really popular with a broad spectrum of people, even for the grown-ups. I would hate to say what people have written on them."

Dylan Mathews, 28, of Buckingham Road, Brighton, said: "I have one and it is fantastic. I change my message all the time."
